5th week of Cake Decorating Class!!

Hey,

I’m like half way through Cake Decorating Class! :(

Today I learned how to use Royal Icing. Let me just tell you making roses with Royal icing sucks when you do them on a wooden pencil.

I’ve also learned how to make icing stand up.

Isn’t that like sweet!!

4th week of Cake Decorating!!!

Today was so Awesome because I had longer nails and it

made it easier for me to make roses! LoL LoL

3rd Week of Cake Decorating Class

Hey Guys,

Are you ready to know what I did for my 3rd class of Cake Decorating Class!!!

In this class I learned how to make a heart cake! <3 This is would be a great dessert idea for Valentine’s Day!

All you have to do is get a 8 x 8 square and round pan. Then use 1 box and break the cake batter evenly into the two pans.

Next, you want to let it cook at the temperature it says on the box. Then, you take it out of the oven once it’s done and let it cool.

Then, once it is done cooling cut the round in half.

Use the square to make a diamond and add the two half’s of cake to make a heart.

Start frosting:

In my class I made flowers, a basket, and words on the cake.

I used the basket-weave tip, rose tip, and writing tip make some of these awesome features to the cake.

Week 2 of Cake Decorating Class

I just finished my 2nd week of Cake Decorating Class.  In the class I learned how to make roses and leaves which was hard at first.  After awhile making the roses and leaves became rather easy.

Here is a picture of what I have done today in this class:

Aren’t they great!

It took just a few minutes to master the rose and I had a great time!

Thanks for reading!  I would love to hear your comments below!

First day of Cake Decorating Class

Today I made a Cake and it looked delicious. Anyways I’ll tell you about what the cake had. It had Strawberry filling, it was a Chocolate cake, and had Buttercream frosting. (Real easy to make.) I learned how to make rose buds, leaf, a border, and more! Well I made buttercream frosting and so I will give you the recipe. Here is what you need:

1 2 lbs bag of powdered sugar or 4 cups in a boxFlowers on the cake

2 of 1 cup sticks of Crisco shortening*

1 tsp salt

2 Tbsp of flavoring ( almond is awesome )

1/2 cup milk

Mix well on low until moist. Then mix on high speed for about 3-4 minutes.

Thanks for my mom for talking to my mom’s friend to do it.

* use crisco shortening butter flavoring if you want yellow frosting.

Pie crust I like!

My mom has this thing with wheat.  It makes her sick.  So a lot of the recipes I put on here we make using spelt.

1 C unsalted butter (chilled but not too HARD) or 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening

3 C flour (we used spelt and it turned out great!)

3 T white sugar

1/3 C ice water

Directions:

1. Combine flour and sugar in a bowl.  Cut butter or margarine or butter and shortening into tablespoon pieces and add it to the flour.  Use the paddle beater to cut the butter into the flour and blend it together.  You can also do it by hand with table knives or with a pastry blender.

2. With the mixer on low speed or while stirring the mixture with a fork, our in the cold water.  When the dough starts to clump and before it turns into a ball, stop stirring.

3. Lightly knead the dough in the bowl until it forms a ball.  Divide dough into two parts.  Flatten each part into a disk and chill for about 30 min before you roll it out for pie.

My favorite kind of pie is apple and we use the leftover crust to make little wedges sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.  So good!

Have you ever had Monkey Man Bars?

I got this recipe when I was in second grade.  My teacher gave us an assignment to try out a recipe at home and my friend brought it in to share with the class.  I just had to try it and when I did – I LOVED it!  Want to know something kind of fun? Chango Bars means “Monkey Man” bars in Mexican.

Ingredients:

1/2 C Butter

1/2 C Margarine

2 C Brown sugar (I only use 1 1/2 C)

3 eggs

2 1/3 C flour*

1 T baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 C chocolate chips (any flavor)

1 C nuts (you can use any kind or a mix)

Directions: Melt butter and margarine.  While the two are melting, cream brown sugar and eggs in a separate bowl.  Then add the melted butter and margarine and mix together. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt and stir into sugar mixture.  Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts.  Pour mixture into a greased 13×9-inch baking pan.  Bake for 45 – 50 min. at 350 F.

So yum!  At the Cook home we like to eat them with milk and I usually use *spelt flour since my mom and dad can’t have normal wheat flour.
